Lightning Bolt Fall :: Winter 2012 and Spring :: Summer 2013 preview: Côte des Basques, France

Nestled along the French Anglet coast just west of Spain’s Bilbao lies the Côte des Basques.
This French surf mecca is home to a group of surfers who thrive on the coastal air, winding cobblestone, rocky coastline, and sense of community; surfers who have taken the spirit of Aloha and put their own French twist on it, making it their own.

Justin Delanne - Bolt Rider

Check the newest video from our Bolt Rider Justin Delanne in some sessions of free surf in French spots. Considered as one of the biggest hopes of the Eurosurf, Justin has the ability to mix the “old school” surf line with the trends of modern surf, the “new school” manoeuvres.

Bolt surfing Costa Rica – More Action

Lightning Bolt Surfing Costa Rica 31Txaber Trojaola flying over Pavones as a start.
More two days of “Pura Vida”
After finally arriving at Rancho Burica at night, really close to Pavones, we still managed to feel that we were close to paradise, and we also had a really great reception, with a fabulous meal. We woke up surrounded by the sound of waterfalls, beautiful flowers and a huge flora diversity.
Now we realized why the locals were considered the happiest people in the world.
It was time to start surfing Pavones, a really long left so fun to surf. We spent the days surfing, shooting, eating, exercising, and sleeping beneath the palm trees.
At night all the riders want to check the photos, the footage and the rest of time with some drinks and party to relax.

Also amazing is the fauna in here. We already saw parrots, iguanas, monkeys, crocodiles, and so many others.
The nearest village is Punta Banco, where you only have a school, a church and a mini-supermarket, but who needs more when you’re enjoying this natural born paradise and such fun waves.
The best photos are still to come, hided in Ricardo Bravo’s camera.

The nature is the queen in Costa Rica. Even in shops you must be aware of that.

Lightning Bolt surfing in Costa Rica – the first pictures

Lightning Bolt Surfing Costa Rica 07

The first session in Playa Hermosa
These are really out of the box pictures from Costa Rica, and only from the first two days of this Lightning Bolt Surftrip, that just started this week.
Some of our european team riders are now surfing the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, and they are staying right close to Pavones, one of the best surf spots of the country.
The big Bolt crew headed by the Pipeline Master Rory Russell is:
From Portugal: Nuande “Silva” Pekel, Miguel Ximenez and Joana Machado
From France: Gege Brasset, Justin Delanne and Léa Mengual
From Spain: The basque rider Txaber Trojaola
We are still waiting to receive the best photos, and as you can see, we believe there’s some swell to be ripped.

Justin Dellane wins the Martinique’s surf championship 2010

Last weekend in the beautiful Caribbean island of Martinique Justin Delanne managed to win the local surf open championship 2010.
The waves were small, but with a very precise and powerful surf, Justin got the title in the surf open event.
The video of the surf open final starts around minute 4.
Justin, almost 20 now, was born in Martinique, but he’s now living in Bidart, France.
We proudly congratulate him for this great win.

Bolt Team 2010

Top Bottom, left to right: Jord “Flying Dutchman” Fortmann, Txaber Trojaola, Miguel Ximenez, Pedro Soares, David Raimundo, Gege Brasset, Teresa Abraços, Léa Mengual, Alexandre “Madxano” Ferreira, Justin Delanne, Maria Abecasis, João Kopke, Nuande “Pekel” Silva, Hadrien Ballion, Ratus Fari, Pumas, Bruno Rodrigues, Joel “Papu” Pereira.

We are very stoked to present the official Bolt Team for 2010 in Europe.
The main novelties are the first ever team riders in France, Spain and Holland, as the brand is now expanding its business in several European countries.
In France, we welcome Jeremy Brasset, Justin Delanne, Hadrien Ballion and Léa Mengual.
In Spain, from the Basque Country, pro-surfer and WQS athlete Txaber Trojaola is our first ever Spanish surfer.
In Holland, Jord “Flying Dutchman” Fortmann, the surf, longboard and snowboard instructor, but also a great free surfer, will hold the Bolt in the cold Dutch waters.
In Portugal, we highlight Teresa Abraços, national champion in 1996, and now a very respected and admired free surfer. She surfs since 1981 and, nowadays, her main objective is to use surf as a strong environmental keeper, but also to spread the sport in the poor coutries.

Justin Dellane and José Ferreira run the Islas Canarias Pro Junior

From September 2nd to 6th, the Canary Islands in the town of Los Realejos will host the 3 stars ASP European Pro Junior event and the final ProJunior of the year, with some of the world's best Under 21 surfers attending the 3 Star rated event. Settling in the North of the island of Tenerife at the beach of El Socorro, city of Los Realejos, the black sand beach surrounded by abrupt cliffs will once again witness some of the hottest surfing action.
Lightning Bolt is represented by portuguese team rider José Ferreira and the newest french surfer Justin “Bridou” Dellane.
José Ferreira starts in the round 2 of 64 and he’s scheduled to run the heat 1 with the tour leader Marc Lacomare, the local Natxo Agirre and one more athlete not yet known.
Justin “Bridou” Dellane started today with a second place in the first round leaving behind the local David Machin. Tomorrow he’ll know his opponents in the second round.

Justin “Bridou” Dellane – The video

Recently we published Justin’s profile and some pictures, but that isn’t enough to understand the real surf skills of our new team rider.
In this small video already made some time ago, you can watch powerful floaters, tubes and other manoeuvres.
We hope to have soon a new video.

Bolt team grabs Justin “Bridou” Dellane

Well, now we don’t have one, neither 1,5 french team riders. We are so mad that we decided to sponsor 2 (two) french surfers to represent the Bolt team in french territory.

Justin Dellane aka Bridou, is 19 years old, was born in Martinique like his bro Jeremy Brasset and is living in Bidart, France.

Despite being so young, this goofy rider already travelled a lot: Guadeloupe, Barbade, Maroc, Réunion, Bali, Australie, Timor, Californie and Hawaii are just a few spots he surfed. Last year he got the 17th place in the Pro Junior (5th in Sopelana 2**), he won the European Volcom Qualifying Series, and in the French Tour he was 7th in the open and 11th in the Junior tour.
This year he aims to reach the French Tour final and place Top 15 in the World Pro Junior Tour.

We proudly welcome Bridou to join the European Bolt Team !!
