Friday :: Found Sound by Matt Correia

Since this is the first post we would love to drop-in with a classic.

Most people are familiar with the later efforts of Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham at the helm.
Some would rather choose to aknowledge the early "Blues Years" with Peter Green as the guiding force. In this post, I want to focus on a song from the transitional period between their British blues incarnation and the mega-pop band they would become. Released as a instrumental single in 1968, Albatross marked a departure from the blues-rock they had been playing into a style very much their own.
Combining a basic blues pattern with elements of calypso music, Albatross is a beautiful moody number that is sure to evoke a dreamy seaside afternoon between the sun and the warm sand. Although the single didn't chart in America, the ambient instrumental was a huge hit in the U.K., influencing an entire generation of guitarist to come. John Lennon pays tribute to Peter Green by using same pulsating feel of Albatross on the Abbey Road song Sun King.

Other tracks to check out from this phase of Fleetwood Mac

It seems that Neil Fraser changed his name Mad Professor because of his passion inventing new electronic gadgets, such as a radio and a telephone system.
He has collaborated with reggae artists such as
Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sly and Robbie, Pato Banton, Jah Shaka and Horace Andy, as well as artists outside the realm of traditional reggae and dub, such as Sade, Massive Attack, The Orb, and Brazilian DJ Marcelinho da lua.
Now, this master dub producer that already participated in almost 200 albums, and is always travelling around the world, is coming to Oporto (Portugal).
Next Friday (5th June), he will be compacting his wide discography in Gare Disco, one of the trendiest discos in this emerging party zone located in the oldest city centre.
